Calculations
From the beginning, VacTran has never used proprietary formulas in performing its calculations. All equations are from published sources, so the user can manually check results with labor-intensive hand calculations. Calculated data is continuously dumped to a text window, which can be examined or saved at any time.
By designing VacTran with textbook formulas and methods commonly taught in vacuum technology courses, modeling flexibility is limited compared with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or Monte Carlo based modeling programs that are many times more expensive. Please contact us if you have questions about your modeling needs and whether VacTran is an appropriate modeling tool for you.
VacTran users have bench marked calculations against existing vacuum systems over many years and reported comparable results to measured data.
